What does Depression Do

last night I wrote about teens education. The post was lost but I will write about the topic again soon. Today I want to pass along information about a few of the blogs I have discovered. I have been to The Jesus encounter 3 times since last week. The blogger ,Jeremy ,talked very candidly about himself and his life. The post title ,"Falling into Depression." I believe this is the correct title. I found myself going back to his blog to check on his condition. The first part of this week , he reported, he was to begin counseling with ministers from his church. I commented each time as I have professional experience with Depression. Jeremy ,like many people, can not understand why he is depressed now. He has found a girl ,and they both have real feelings for one another. However, he said he feels like a failure; he can't find a job, he expressed that he is full of rage and didn't know why . He has been having a fundraiser for money to attend a college for ministry. I believe most people would agree , he must be depressed if he is not overjoyed about his successful fundraiser, and finding that someone special. However when a person is clinically depressed, they can not enjoy anything. Some people have had no experience with depression. And some people think a person can think positive and they will get better. As a matter of fact , this week , someone told me just that . The parent ,and sibling had been telling her just think positive , don't let those thoughts in . This person said," I have been trying to replace the bad thoughts with something good, but I can't really do That .I am afraid I will loose control , and flip out."I still can't sleep , I don't get hungry ,I hear a negative statement and obsess about it . I can't work , I can't concentrate on my work. I constantly worry about, something bad happening, I' m worried about loosing my job , because I don't feel in control of myself. That sounds pretty scary to me . But there are millions of people who feel the same fear. One of the most important pieces of information; Without treatment the depression continues to get worse. And when a person does finally go for treatment , it takes longer to recover . If anyone needs to ask questions about depression or other mental illness ,treatment, etc. I will be glad to answer any of your questions.
